How did you start running?:

Running away from my Mom ;-) I ran both XC and 1500m from the age of 11. I'd run plenty of races before joining, but found the speedwork difficult to do on my own. I chatted to few members at Newport parkrun, came down and tried a session and the rest is history!

Any message to newcomers?:

Joining Lliswerry will be the best running decision you can make. The support from clubmates, at training, parkrun, races and during injuries really is incredible. Also, if you are a lady, we are always looking for more ladies of all abilities to come and join our XC and road teams :-)

Any message to newcomers?:
I hesitated for 12 months over joining a club and can honestly say I regret not joining sooner. From my 1st training session I was made to feel like part of the Lliswerry family. Don't hesitate, join!

Initially i was looking for a way to keep fit and active without having to go to the gym or play rugby. I signed up for the 2014 Bristol Half Marathon, downloaded a training plan from Runkeeper and was quickly hooked.
Any message to newcomers?:
I have only been a member for 6 months and I cannot believe how many positive experiences Lliswerry Runners has already provided for me. From support at races to the opportunity to take part in national events like The Castles its a fantastic club.

My Dad and elder brother ran so I went along to a local running club in Hampshire in 1976. When I moved to Magor, I joined Chepstow but the lure of a friendly running club in Lliswerry was too much to ignore!

On a family holiday in north Wales my wife was off running every morning with our dog, when she'd get back to the tent she would allways say "I wish you could come running with us", about a month later I agreed to try. I have not looked back.

Any message to newcomers?:

It's much better running with Friends than on your own and Lliswerry Runners really are a great bunch of dudes and dudettes they(we)have a great weekly structure that will help any runner, weather your into running fast or slow the group system, routes and training plans really do aid in impoving running fittness for all abilities.

Trail or road or mountain or anywhere.
How did you start running?:
I needed to get fitter to complete the National 3 Peaks Challenge. Absolutely hated it when I started....went on to complete Cardiff Half and started parkrun which naturally led to joining the club. This led to marathons and beyond.
Any message to newcomers?:
Don't use the phrase "I'm not fast enough to join a club" If you want an addiction, this is one of the good ones.
