How did you start running?: 
As a supplement to football training when I was a young lad. Started running for the sake of running quite recently. It gets you hooked!!
Any message to newcomers?: 
Don't think because its a running club you have to be an elite athlete. Lliswerry caters for all abilities and encourages everyone. My advice? Keep to tarmac.

Mr Robert Tudhope

How did you start running?: 
<p>On a family holiday in north Wales my wife was off running every morning with our dog, when she'd get back to the tent she would allways say "I wish you could come running with us", about a month later I agreed to try. I have not looked back.</p>
Any message to newcomers?: 
<p>It's much better running with Friends than on your own and Lliswerry Runners really are a great bunch of dudes and dudettes they(we)have a great weekly structure that will help any runner, weather your into running fast or slow the group system,routes and training plans really do aid in impoving running fittness for all abilities.</p>

Andy Barry

How did you start running?: 
<p>I started running basically just to get fit but enjoyed it so much i just kept it going. I have ran a few half marathons but never a full one. That is my goal so maybe one day.I&#39;m 53 now so maybe now i have joined Lliswerry they can help me get there.</p>
Any message to newcomers?: 
<p>I have just joined April 2015. They are such a friendly bunch of people, the training is first class. It is suitable for all levels, no one ever gets left behind. I wish i had joined years ago.</p>

Ruth Ovey

Road mostly but don't mind muck on the odd occasion.
How did you start running?: 
<p>Race for life, my sons friend had leukaemia aged 9. I was determined to run all 5k. I started by running lamppost to lamppost. Then Paul Harmes mentioned Park Run and Lliswerry Runners and I have never looked back. There is always someone to run with and made some incredible friendships.</p>
Any message to newcomers?: 
<p>A really friendly club. Lots of encouragement and support no matter what your ability or capability. Everyone is welcomed with open arms. It is like having a huge extension to your family.</p>

David Phillips

How did you start running?: 
I decided that sitting behind a desk all day may actually have saved my joints albeit made me unfit but I thought the latter can be reversed but lack of the former cannot! I ran to a lamppost and back then got in my car and drove home, then decided to run to the next lamppost get in my car and drive home etc., etc.
Any message to newcomers?: 
Running is a big an addiction as anything out there, I have so many in-depth hobbies that some of which I have had all my life nearly but running took over all of my hobby/spare time the instant I started achieving much more than my targets.

James Pearce

Tarmac - definitely tarmac!
How did you start running?: 
<p>I had a bit of a health scare a few years ago and ended up in hospital. I was overweight, eating the wrong things and spending too long doing nothing! So I decided I had to change. bit by bit, I started running and I&#39;ll always remember how painful that first ever ParkRun was... but I stuck with it and look where I&#39;ve got to!</p>
Any message to newcomers?: 
<p>Try it... Don&#39;t worry about whether you&#39;re &#39;good&#39; or not.. everyone started the same way with one foot in front of the other...Who knows how far you will end up going... and there&#39;s no one more supportive than a Lliswerry Runner beside you!</p>

How did you start running?: 
<p>To get fit originally then I found i really enjoyed it! Joined Lliswerry mainly due to meeting so many friendly people from the club at Newport Parkrun.</p>
Any message to newcomers?: 
<p>I&#39;ve found Lliswerry to be one of the most friendly (if not THE most friendly!) clubs I&#39;ve come in contact with full of very supportive club members.</p>

How did you start running?: 
Woke up one morning and had an urge to go for a run. Downloaded the couch to 5K app on my phone and off I went. Got hooked straight away and haven't looked back. Once I built up to the 5K I looked on the Internet for a local running club and joined Lliswerry Runners in Oct 2013
Any message to newcomers?: 
Lliswerry Runners are suitable for all abilities. Everyone is welcome and supported. We all share the same love of running and help each other out. It's a family.

How did you start running?: 
My son joined Newport Harriers in 1994 and I started running while he trained. Within weeks I was training seriously and a member of Newport too.
Any message to newcomers?: 
Probably the hardest thing you'll do is coming to a club session first time. After that you'll find all the company, inspiration and support you need to achieve whatever you aim for.
